Lock Picking 101


Have you ever just really wanted to get into something and/or have an insatiable urge to see whats behind a door only to have your dreams quashed by and annoying lock? The most familiar lock is the standard deadbolt lock you might find on a front door. In a normal deadbolt lock, a movable bolt or latch is embedded in the door so it can be extended out the side. This bolt is lined up with a notch in the frame. When you turn the lock, the bolt extends into the notch in the frame, so the door can't move. When you retract the bolt, the door moves freely. In normal situations it is almost always easier to gain access by some means other than lock picking .
